Ducted equipment is the easiest part of the job to specify and the hardest part to install well. These are the things that decide whether the system performs the way the submittal says it will.

Sizing and equipment selection for a ducted system

Before we arrive to work on a ducted system

Frequently asked questions

Can my existing ductwork handle a heat pump?
Sometimes, but it needs to be measured rather than assumed. Because a heat pump supplies cooler air than a furnace, it needs more airflow to deliver the same heat, and ducts sized for a furnace are often marginal. We measure total external static pressure and compare the existing duct capacity against the airflow the calculated load requires, then tell you plainly whether the duct works, needs modification, or needs replacing.
Why does the air from my heat pump feel cooler than my furnace did?
Because it genuinely is cooler, and that is normal. A heat pump supplies air at roughly 95°F to 105°F while a furnace supplies 130°F or more. Both heat the house to the same temperature, but the heat pump does it with a longer, gentler run rather than short blasts.
